In the colder parts of the world houses use a lot of the energy of the family energy consumption. Many houses are older and built in a time when energy was cheap and when people coudl (would) live in much colder houses (and adapt their clothing)
Making a house into a passive house requires lookign at the following main factors:
- energy consumption
- lighting
- heating/cooling
- cooking
- entertainment
- energy loss
- isolation
- ventilation
- energy production
- solar panels
- warm water
- electricity
In this blog message I like to show you an interesting method used by the vdm company of the Netherlands.
They "attack" the energy loss aspect of passive renovation by installing a ventilation heat exchanger and by construction a completly new outer shell of the building for isolation. Below some photographs of the proces an this is a link to a dutch (sorry) youtube movie.
