Backwards Tricycle Innesenti - incredibly fast tricycles

backwards-tricycle-innesenti-1.jpg
The Innesenti backwards tricycle by British designer Trevor Innes doesn't look like a usual tricycle design but it does look very ergonomic and streamlined. According to Innesenti website, it's incredibly fast, it's the ultimate sports machine ... as it was built using Formula 1 racing and Indy Car racing technology. As Chipchick puts it, Innesenti is a backwards tricycle on steroids. It can be used for intense biking or just a pleasure trip around the country. The design is very versatile: these tricycles fit men, women, and older people, and can be customized for you upon ordering. They can be used in the winter, come in several colors, and can be accessorized to better fit your needs. A touring version is also available. Hang it on the wall for storage. Visit Innesenti for details on how to order one.

Tricycle TreMoto Monstrosity to give ultimate ride with increased stability, traction

tricycle tremoto monstrosity

This cool and ultimate monster trike has amazing on and off road capabilities that you just can’t expect from a two wheeler or traditional three wheelers either. Dubbed the TreMoto concept, it is created by Eddie Smith and Rob McIver. Made while keeping in mind the safety threats that one faces on a two wheeler, TreMoto features a suspension system that include the 45 degrees of cornering lean angle, fully adjustable independent suspension, and lean brake. The leaning suspension gives it the cornering speeds of a motorcycle and that too with increased stability and traction, and braking that a third wheel provides. All these features make this monster an ultimate vehicle for on and off road rides.

Plug-In Electric Tricycle

Electric Tricycle Concept 01

Plug-in electric tricycle, an environmentally friendly vehicle for the modern-living urban inhabitant, combines the advantages of a motor scooter with those of a car – small and agile but still comfortable and secure. The driver is protected by a frame, which surrounds the head and can be folded upward . The energy of the wheel hub motor comes from a battery pack under the seat.
Car sharing concepts are the future of urban mobility, so P.I.E.T. will be available at many charging stations.

Reinvented Tricycle Is Powered By Two Electric Screwdrivers

Images Credit Nils Ferber
Designboom shows German designer Nils Ferber's eccentric electric tricycle with an interesting power source: two off-the-shelf electric screwdrivers.
The powering mechanism is really clever;
Both screwdrivers run in the same direction to get the maximum power out of them.To avoid one screwdriver blocking the other, overrunning clutch gearwheels are used to transmit the torque.

It isn't just me that thinks this is a bit eccentric, the designer does too:
Excentricity [sic] is defined as a deviation from what is ordinary or customary. To match this definition we couln´t just modify an existing vehicle but had to start designing something new from scratch. The result is a completely new driving concept: The driver lies headlong on his three-wheeled vehicle and accelerates the "EX" with sprawled out arms up to 30 km/h. Eccentrically is also how the steering works: A specially developed joint tilts the back wheel and leans the driver´s weight dynamically into the curve.

Steering with the spine-shaped joint is very different from holding a steering wheel or handle bar. You have to use your whole body to tilt and bend the vehicle. Designed in cooperation with Sebastian Auray, Ruben Faber and Ludolf von Oldershausen.
More at Nils Ferber.
While the trike may be a bit eccentric, the propulsion system is a great idea. I wonder if anyone makes a kit to fasten a drill to a regular bike. Someone should. (Oh wait, someone almost did here)

Magic Tricycle

tricycle
The Magic Tricycle is a unique concept because
it can be ridden on all three wheels on highways
or wider roads, but on more tighter
roads or in traffic jams, it can be rotated around
a longitudinal axis running from the front to
the rear right wheel with the left wheel raised
into the air so it can be ridden as a motorcycle.

Bizarre 3 wheeled fun from America

CORBIN MERLIN

Bizarre 3 wheeled fun from America
You may remember Corbin from the London Motor Show back in 1999. Stashed away upstairs at Earls Court were a couple of examples of curious looking three wheelers that looked like they should be driven by Mr Nosy. Corbin have their fingers in a few pies, with environmentally friendly vehicles being the one they're probably best known for.
Detroit however will be the venue for them to launch their bizarre Merlin roadster. The front wheel drive trike is powered by a 102bhp motor and is driven through a four speed 'box. Front suspension is coil-over hydraulic shocks in a twin A-arm unit. The solitary rear wheel hangs on a single sided swing arm.
Reservations are currently being accepted to secure first run units that will be produced in 2002. A $1,000 reservation towards the $23,900 selling price secures your Merlin.

TriRod launches F3 Adrenaline 3-wheel motorcycle

TriRod F3 Adrenaline 3-wheel motorcycle

We've encountered a raft of exciting three-wheeled motorcycle designs in recent years including the Can-Am Spyder, Brudeli's Three-Wheel Leanster, the VentureOne plug-in hybrid and the T-REX from Campagna. More recently, scooter manufacturers have embraced the wide-track stability, braking power and cornering prowess of the two at the front/one at the rear configuration with the release of models like thePiaggio MP3. While many designs are still in prototype phase, it seems certain that the three-wheeled footprint will become an increasingly familiar site on the road with the latest example to cross our desk - the striking tandem seat F3 Adrenaline from San Diego based TriRod Motorcycles - now accepting reservations ahead of a Q2 2008 release.
